Jade Skinner: October classes at Rubin, St. Pete

Friend of Beerasana Jade Skinner is teaching some special classes that we think you’ll like: a series for beginners, a workshop for runners, and a training for teachers.  All are at the Rubin Health Center, 1500 Dr. MLK Street North, Saint Petersburg, Florida.

Intro to Yoga Workshop

October 3, 10, 17 and 24 from 7:00-8:00pm
There are many people who would like to explore the world of yoga, but do not know where to start. If you are a novice to yoga then this is the perfect class for you.

In this 4-week series you will explore all the basics needed to know about the practice of yoga. You will learn Breathing Techniques, Sun Salutations, the Foundational Poses of Yoga, and simple Meditation. Through the course of the 4-weeks you will develop strength, gain a better sense of balance, increase flexibility, and learn to calm the mind.

Come and experience all that yoga has to offer. More info.

Yoga for Runners

Saturday, October 6, from 2:00-4:00pm

During the course of an average mile run, your foot will strike the ground 1,000 times. The force of impact on each foot is about three to four times your weight. It’s not surprising, then, to hear runners complain of bad backs and knees, tight hamstrings, and sore feet. Yoga’s internal focus centers your attention on your own body’s movements rather than on an external outcome. Runners can use yoga practice to balance strength, increase range of motion, and train the body and mind.

In this class you will learn how to strike balance, and prevent pain from running by tuning into your body through the practice of yoga.

*All levels welcome and no flexibilty is required to attend! More info.

Adjust, Align, and Assist

October 20 and 21, 1:00-4:00pm

Giving adjustments not only requires technique, it also requires a subtle approach. We must understand the intention of the pose and have an overall good experience in practicing the pose before we give an adjustment.

Using one’s hands to help others is also a healing practice. Any adjustment can be physical, verbal, and energetic at the same time they should be safe and intelligent.

This workshop will provide the knowledge and fundamental tools to help teachers safely adjust, align, and assist students while in a yoga pose. We will cover standing poses, seated poses, binding poses, twisting poses, arm balances, backbends, and inversions.

*This the first of a series of 2. Each series will consist of 2- 2 day, 3 hour workshop intensives from 1:00-4:00. Teachers will receive CEU credits for attending. More info.
